Professor Mostafa El-Sheekh from Tanta University Delivers an Academic Lecture at Jiangsu University

Title: Study on the Growth Characteristics, Biochemical Composition, and Application of Spirulina and Chlorella in the Feed of Red Tilapia

Introduction: Professor Mostafa El-Sheekh formerly served as Vice President of Tanta University and currently serves as a member of the Biological Committee of the Egyptian National Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, as well as Chair of the National Academic Evaluation Committee for Plant and Microbiology disciplines in universities. He is a leading authority in the field of applied phycology. His team has achieved groundbreaking results in algal breeding, algal-based food, fertilizer applications, and algae-plant interaction mechanisms, having published over 320 papers, received multiple scientific awards, and consistently ranked among the top 2% of scientists worldwide.

This presentation focuses on his teams research and applied progress in algal food, feed, and fertilizer. It emphasizes the differences between Spirulina and Chlorella in growth parameters (such as specific growth rate, cell density, and pigment accumulation) and biochemical composition (including protein, lipid, and carbohydrate content), and further analyzes their effectiveness as feed additives for juvenile Red Tilapia. The study covers the effects of microalgal feed on fish growth performance, feed conversion ratio, and immune response, providing a scientific basis for developing green and efficient aquaculture feed resources.
