Introduction: Gong Yunyun is currently a Professor at the School of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Leeds, and director of the International Department. Mainly engaged in evaluating the impact of food chemical pollutants (especially mycotoxins) on human health and developing effective intervention measures to protect public health from the harmful effects of these toxic chemicals. Professor Gong Yunyun has served as a member of working groups for international organizations, including the International Agency for Research on Cancer and the European Food Safety Agency. As a passionate and experienced researcher on global health, Professor Yunyun Gong has led numerous international collaborative research projects on food mycotoxins exposure and children's health, providing scientific evidence for policy decisions to reduce and control mycotoxins in Africa and China. The relevant research has received project funding from the Royal Society of the United Kingdom, the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in the United States, and charitable organizations including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the Sir Murray Stewart Trust. In the past 20 years of research, Professor Gong Yunyun has established good cooperative relationships with scientists from around the world, including the Tanzania Food and Drug Administration, the South African Medical Research Council, the Gambia Medical Research Council, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the China National Food Safety Risk Assessment Center. Her research expertise is in the area of determining the impact of food chemical pollutants (especially mycotoxins) on human health.
