Keynote speaker:Maria Esther Garcia-Cela
Time: 10:00-11:00 am, 19 Sept
Address: Meeting Room 506 Wenhua Building
Main Lecture Topic:The Dangers of Mycotoxin and How to Control Them Along the Food Chain
Introduction of the main speaker:
Maria Esther Garcia-Cela,a lecturer in applied mycology received her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Food Science and Technology from the University of Lleida, Spain in 2014. From 2014 to 2016, she held positions at the University of Lleida, Spain, and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Piacenza Cremona, Italy. In 2016, she joined Professor Naresh Magan at Cranfield University in the United Kingdom to engage in applied mycology research During her stay at Cranfield, she developed microbiological models to predict fungi, thereby effectively improving the shelf life of cereals and nuts, preventing grain spoilage and mycotoxin production. In 2019, she joined the University of Hertfordshire in UK, focusing on the toxins produced by fungi at different stages of development and how to control their production.
Presentation content:
Her presentation mainly introduced the current major fungal pathogens and their mycotoxins. In addition, the presentation outlines how to effectively control mycotoxins in agricultural products and foods. Furthermore, the presentation contained models which can help to predict the production and occurrence of mycotoxins at different environmental conditions.
