Time: 9:00-10:00 am, 19 Sept
Address: Meeting Room 506 Wenhua Building
Introduction of the main speaker:
Carol Verheecke-Vaessen,Lecturer in Applied Molecular Mycology, graduated with a doctorate degree from the Federal University of Toulouse in France in 2014.From 2014 to 2016, she worked as a teaching specialist at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Agronomic in Toulouse, France. In 2016, she joined Cranfield University in the United Kingdom and joined the research group of applied mycology. Her presentation mainly introduced the major sources of mycotoxins and their effect on human and animal health. In addition, her presentation outlined factors affecting fungal growth and toxin production in agricultural products. The presentation also discussed in details how climate changes can affect mycotoxin production. Finally, the presentation outlines establishment of risk assessment mechanisms for predicting mycotoxins production and occurrence and suggested formulation programs to prevent and control mycotoxin effects.
