Dr. Amanda R. Stiles from University of California-Berkeley Visited Jiangsu University

On Sep. 2, Dr. Amanda R. Stiles from the University of California-Berkeley visited Jiangsu University. Dr. Stiles delivered an academic lecture named Strategies for the Phytoremediation of Boron and TPH-contaminated Water and Soils. Prof. Ma Haile, Dean of School of Food and Biological Engineering, and some faculty members and students of the school attended the lecture.


Dr. Amanda Stiles is a scientist at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her Ph.D. from Virginia Tech University in Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology, and conducted postdoctoral work at UC Berkeley in the laboratory of Dr. Norman Terry. Her research focus is on the use of plants and plant biotechnology to address environmental issues. Over the past five years, she has worked to develop strategies for the phytoremediation of boron, selenium, and TPH-contaminated soils and water. In 2011, she was awarded the Chinese Academy of Sciences Fellowships for Young International Scientists.
