As part of our international research collaboration, the research team of Professor Hongyin Zhang has been privileged to have Professors and experts in the field of Biocontrol of postharvest diseases visiting to facilitate a number of research ideas. Recently, Professor Raffaello Castoria visited the research team twice in less than one year. Professor Raffaello Castoria is a visiting professor from the University of Molise Italy to the Jiangsu University, School of Food and Biological Engineering, Zhenjiang, China. Professor Castoria is an expert in Postharvest fungal pathogens of horticultural and fruit crops. He has been involved for the past many years in the development of biocontrol methods for the biocontrol of postharvest diseases and mycotoxins of food as alternatives to synthetic pesticides. His first visit to our research team at the Jiangsu University, School of Food and Biological Engineering, Zhenjiang, China was in October, 2014 and the second visit was in April, 2014. As part of his visit, he has provided research advice on the development of methods to degrade PAT and other important mycotoxins in food (OTA, ZEA,) and proposed several cutting edge research directions in postharvest biocontrol of fruits and vegetables.
