Professional   Experience

(1) 2018 – current; Valuable biochemical production from low cost wasted biomass

Recent research was focused on the production of valuable biochemical from waste biomass through chain elongation. The main products are medium chain carboxylic acids including caproic and caprylic acids. The biofilm technique was employed to improve the tolerance ability of microbial cells to inhibitors.

(2) 2013.10 – 2018; Conversion of cellulosic substrates to biohydrogen

A huge amount of residue sludge could be produced during dark fermentation of food waste with the inoculum of anaerobic sludge. To enhance the fermentation efficiency and avoid the residue sludge, screening of hydrogenogen was carrided on. Currently, two kinds of hydrogenogen have been separated from anaerobic sludge and have been applied to converting food waste into biohydrogen.

(3) 2008.09 – current; Anaerobic digestion of food waste for bio-methane production

Food waste is one of the most important municipal solid wastes worldwide. Due to the lack of trace elements, anaerobic digestion of food waste is hardly to be maintained at a stable condition. The anaerobic co-digestion of food waste and cattle manure was investigated and a dual solid-liquid (ADSL) system was developed to overcome the drawbacks of single digestion of food waste.
