The end of the second semester of the second year of study brought an exciting opportunity for the Food Science and Engineering undergraduate students. They were privileged to visit thirteen food and engineering-related enterprises, companies, and laboratories, within and without of Jiangsu Province, which began on the 24th of June and ended on the 12th of July 2019. The places that were visited include Yongsheng Village, Baqiao Town plant area, Yakult Factory: Wuxi City Branch, Jiangsu Rongwei Electric Company. Ltd, Yanzhong City, Sengwang Factory, Nanjing City Branch, Xinpin Tea: Green Tea and Matcha Production, Changzhou City, Zhenjiang Centre For Disease Control and Prevention, Zhenjiang Entry & Exit Bureau, Jiangsu Ligong Fruit and Vegetable Machinery Co. Ltd, Xinghua City, Carlsberg Ltd, Xinlei Malting Company, Xinghua City, Changshinma Company, Coca-Cola Company, Nanjing and Hengshun Vinegar Company, Zhenjiang City. These comprehensive visits included guided tours and technology simulations by the companies or enterprises’ staff as well as a detailed explanation of the processes conducted at the respective places. In a few of the above places, the students were also honoured with the opportunity of enjoying samples of the products fashioned at the respective enterprises. The students were accompanied to the respective enterprises by Dr. Zhang Rong, Dr. Xu Baoguo, Dr. Wang Bo and in special instances Vice Deans of the School of Food and Biological Engineering: Dr. Zhang Hongyin as well as Mr. Sun Haining. The international/foreign students are very grateful for this cherished opportunity to see the Food Science and Engineering industry flourishing in real-time, through these internship visits, and they hope for more similar opportunities in the near future as they continue to embark on their study path.
